Wednesday is market day in our nearest large town, Aghios Nikolaos.  These are some photos of the vegetable and fruit section.  The vegetables and fruit are all grown locally and are usually picked fresh that morning.  I usually buy enough fruit and vegetables for the whole week.  It’s amazing how long the produce lasts in the fridge.  The prices are extremely reasonable and on my last trip I spent just over two euros ($2.75) and came home with tomatoes, cucumber, small cauliflower, zucchinis, potatoes and broccoli.  We also visit a local cheese man and a stall that sells local honey.  When I combine these vegetables with meat from a local butcher the ” Hundred Mile Diet” easily comes to mind.
