An awful lot of work but there’s something rather satisfying about getting the wood in for the winter. It has to be done this early so that we can take advantage of the availability of seasoned, dry wood. Later in the winter all that is left to buy is the newly cut olive wood which of course is very green and very bad for the chimney.
This is the first ton we have bought and needs to be brought up to the terrace and stacked before the next ton is delivered next week. No need to visit the gym and use a “stairmaster” for exercise ! We are hoping to have a rope/pulley system set up on the terrace so moving the wood up next year will be much easier!
