Our neighbour, Costas, recently bought a car after using a motor bike as transport for many years. He is very proud of this little car and invited us to go for a drive over the mountain to Milatos, a seaside resort and have lunch at his favourite sea food restaurant. We stopped to take a few photographs on the way.We then made a stop that we were not expecting, as you can see we were not dressed properly for the task ahead. We were invited to pick olives from the trees on the property belonging to Costas’ uncle. More about these olives later. We then continued to Milatos to have lunch at a family run taverna on the beach.Kent and Costas. We were not the only customers enjoying lunch. A couple of photos of our trip back home.I have to apologise for not taking photographs of our meal. Costas had ordered the speciality of the house which was a kind of fish stew which I found very good but it was a shock when we saw the bill. You may be interested to know that, surprisingly, fish is very expensive on Crete especially in the restaurants.
It was a great day out, seeing places we had not seen before and picking local olives which we were given, with instructions about how to preserve them. More about this on the next post.
