Today in Greece is Independence Day, a very important day for the Greek people when they gained independence from the occupation by the Turks. Everyone flies the Greek Flag.
We went to our local town to watch the parade and join with our Greek friends to celebrate this day.
The band lead the parade, playing very well.
Followed by various groups of school children, dressed smartly in White shirts and blacks trousers, although a lot were wearing jeans.
Some of the children were wearing traditional costumes.
Even the littles ones took part. The parade ended with the laying of wreaths on the cenotaph.
We sat in our favourite tavern and watched the parade…enjoying every moment, celebrating this moment with our Greek friends.
