A few weeks ago Kent and I went, with a couple of friends, to a taverna in Kounali, a small village about 10 kilometers away. This is what is called a traditional tavern where they serve local Greek food.
We were welcomed so warmly especially as it was a special evening with traditional live music. The whole evening was catered just for Greek people and they were delighted to have four “Zenis” (foreigners) visiting.
Unfortunately the photos shown were taken on a previous occasion as my photographs on this evening did not turn out very well. The food and ambience were great but we had to leave before the music actually started because we had booked a taxi to take us home, not realizing how late the entertainment would start. Live entertainment here usually starts very late and continues until the wee hours. Next time we will take a siesta in the afternoon and then be ready to enjoy the entertainment.
